 About Me

Lauren Higdon is a licensed massage therapist, "Dancing For Birth" instructor, "Body Recall" instructor, "Baby's First Massage" trainer and birth doula.  Lauren works with individuals and familes in transition.  Be it pregnancy, birth, babies, adolesence, menopause, aging...she utilizes movement, breathwork and massage to encourage greater function, freedom, joy and integration of the body and spirit during these changing times.

Lauren found her passion for healing during her Aikido training in 1999 where she was first exposed to bodywork thru Tai Chi and Shiatsu.  She attended the Lexington Healing Arts Academy in 2001 and has been involved as an instructor ever since.  Her individual bodywork sessions incorporate her varied trainings in CranioSacral Therapy, Movement Re-Education, Shiatsu and Vedic Thai Massage.  She became a certified baby massage instructor in 2003 and shortly after received her Doula training thru DONA. She is certified in advanced prenatal, labor and post partum bodywork thru Kate Jordan Seminars.  She enjoys utilizing her training in yoga and pediatric massage teaching wellness classes to children ages 3 to 13 (including her own two boys).  Lauren also provides a 27 hour certification course for nurses, LMT’s and Doulas through “Baby’s First Massage”.

Lauren has extensive experience within the hospital setting though her doula work and employment with Saint Joseph Wellness Services from 2003 to 2008 where she provided massage, gave talks on wellness and massage and helped coordinate wellness fairs for the employees.  She has also given talks on health and wellness for local colleges, the VA, hospitals, businesses and physical educators.  She currently practices independently and at BabyMoon in Lexington, KY.

Her continual goal in all her endeavors is to consciously create a nurturing, safe and joyful environment for each person she encounters, so that they may feel free to learn, grow and heal throughout all the stages of life.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.
